Roots of the Methomergent Lab

The MethoMergent Lab was birthed at the Great Emergence conference in 2008 when about 300 emergent Christians gathered in Memphis to hear about and react to Phyllis Tickle’s book, The Great Emergence.  While there, United Methodist met and decided that we needed to organize in order to help usher in a Denominational response to the massive shifts taking place in our culture, congregations and church.

At this point, our agenda is simple:  Sound the Alarm.  We are actively working to help people realize the significance, power, responsibility and challenge of our current times (for more about what we mean by this, read the “Great Emergence” page).  We are in the process of developing a working covenant for those who feel called to bring about change in our denomination.

We hope that you’ll join us.
